Don’t just take my word for it…there are many others who have enjoyed my workshops!

A well paced, well resourced course.  Students have a clear understanding of tasks set and are pushed to exploreAlison Baxter, Short course coordinator West Dean College.

Your monthly workshops; for me the strengths were:
- access to a knowledgeable and experienced tutor with a flexible approach to individual students’ needs
- access to  studio space with a wide range of resources and equipment readily available for any direction a project went in
- enthusiastic and well-informed demonstrations from the tutor of a variety of techniques with the opportunity for the students to follow them up at their individual paces and preferences
- a collegiate atmosphere with opportunities for students to learn from each other as their individual projects developed over time
- a relaxed and welcoming attitude set by the tutor with lots of positive guidance and expertise from the tutor geared to each student’s personality and preferences at point of need
- the opportunity to develop new techniques and apply them to my work over a sustained period of time on a range of different projects
- focused work which maximised each student’s precious time out from their hectic lives to enable them to create (with support) something special and to build their confidence as textile artists - Angela Anning, Monthly workshop student

I can’t believe how much I got out of the Workshop Wednesday programme this year! When I started I was just looking for a course to learn a new skill and, if I was lucky, a tutor to provide some critical feedback of my work. What I got was so much more: you have shown me that my “neat and tidy” nature was not only holding me back but was actually something that I disliked about my work. You encouraged me to work more spontaneously and not to worry if my work wasn’t “right” because sometimes that was actually better! I completed a commissioned wall hanging from an original design but adopted an entirely different method to accomplish it, with fantastic results. I’m really pleased with the direction my work has taken and with your support and encouragement I have exhibited at two shows this year.

Working at your studio was also a big bonus, not just in terms of space and resources but seeing how you organise your time and work in order to make your art a commercial success.

Having a month between each workshop suited me very well: it allowed me time to plan and prepare for each session and although it didn’t always work in with my family commitments it was better than say two or three consecutive days over a weekend. The times suited me perfectly and although I would have to allow more time to travel to Holmfirth I now have all 3 children at secondary school so I have much longer days. The small group worked well, allowing us to get to know each other and share thoughts and critical observations about our work.

Thank you so much, it’s been fascinating to spend a year with you. You have been a wonderful tutor, mentor, life coach, fellow mother of teenage children! – Claire Ketteman, Monthly workshop student
