I am hugely excited to be involved in ‘Elemental’ a group exhibition at RuthinCraft Centre, curated by Greg Parsons.  The collective of work from 14 makers, supports the Anni Albers show : the legacy of her skill and devotion to her craft.
I have 4 Elemental catalogues [worth £5 each] to give-away to the readers who leave a comment in the box at the bottom of this page – I’ll pick names out of a hat on Saturday 8th January 2011…Good luck
Here’s a preview of some of the Textile Art pieces on show: Inch thick felt, dyed then collagraphically printed and refined with hand stitched details.  All part of the DEEP FELT GROUND SERIES…

Further NEW GROUNDS work can be seen at Galanthus Gallery 20th January – 27th February 2011.  I shall be launching a new collection of brooches  at Galanthus…Sign up for my newsletter to keep posted of all the latest developments!

  1. Beautiful Dionne! I’m really looking forward to getting to Ruthin to see both the Anni Albers and all that is alongside it. A trip in early December was scuppered by snow. Happy Christmas!

  2. Hello dear Dionne, I take the chance to participate in the hat selection. Met you and your work at Art in Action in the past summer, bought, and continue to follow your activities from over here in Belgium (Brussels) on the net, am fascinated by your facility of communication on your artistic life, dream about participating in one of your work shops to get to know new techniques to my current print making (wood on Japanese paper). Best wishes for this fresh new year. Carmen

  3. Carmen – thank you so much. Art in Action is a fantastic event and I am grateful to have been invited again in 2011. There are a varied selection of workshops for the coming year – keep your eye on my newsletters from all the current news.
    best regards, Dionne x

  4. Alice I hope you’ve got to Ruthin by now – we went last week & I’m really pleased with the way my work looks.
    regards, Dionne

  5. Hi Dionne

Had a nice surprise when I came across your work at Ruthin Craft Centre- I live just down the road! I didn’t make it to the PV this time although I often go. Were you there? Its a great venue and your work looks marvelous, as always.
Hope to see you at Printfest again this year? just sent my application.
    all the best
    Ian

  6. Lovely inspirational images as always Dionne- unfortunately I can’t get to your new exhibitions, but loved doing one of your workshops at Ally Pally last year. Looking forward to seeing new images and receiving emails through 2011.
    Diane

  7. Please put my name in the hat Dionne! I love the gallery and the setting at Ruthin but it is such a long way from here in Pembrokeshire that I only manage to get up that way about once a year. Hereford is a much easier prospect though so I’ve made a note of the dates at Galanthus and will definitely get up there to see the latest work. That too is a wonderful gallery in a great location. Looking forward to seeing the addition of jewellery to your skill sets! Lesley

  8. Hi Dionne
Fascinated by the work and would love a catalogue of the ‘Elemental’ group exhibition. Newsletter great – hope to get to one of your workshops one day. My original training was in Fashion and Textile design and although I have moved into photography as my main medium of expression, printmaking and textiles are still very important to me. Have a look at my website http://www.adriennebrown.co.uk

  9. Really interesting work, I’d love to get to Ruthin and see more! Snug at Hebden Bridge is nearer and am hoping to get there soon. Happy New Year!

  10. Thank you Dionne for all the info, pics and inspiriation – your mails are always a joy. I too am now in the ‘hat’!

  12. Dear Donna
I have been following your work and am in love with what you do.I work with woven fabrics and have always been interested in different techniques.Devore intrests me tremendously as well as I am intimidated by it as have thought that it is very complex!!You make it sound so simple and so much fun-I wish I could attend your many workshops-except that I spend my time between New York and India-may be I will have to make a stop over-
Fantastic work..Best Wishes for the New Year
    !I hope I am a lucky winner..
    Cheers
    Rita

  13. Rita – thank you for your interest. The devore process can be as tricky or straight forward as you wan to make it! It would be great to see you at a workshop, but the Demystifying Devore DVD if you can’t make it! Best wishes, Dionne

  20. Hi there Ian – good to hear from you. The weather/flu/distance all got in the way of the PV, but we did journey over last week. I was really pleased with the hanging. Just about to sort my Printfest stuff…fingers crossed. Best, Dionne

  21. Dionne, this latest selection of felt work is amazing. I’m a member of a newly formed group of textile artists, called ‘the Fibrebirds’ , who completed the City and Guild Diploma at Cardonald College, in Glasgow, and are progressing our craft through experimentation, including felting, and I must say, the 1″ thick items with the innovative decoration will be a source of inspiration to our group, when next we meet, ( 12th Jan.). Definately put my name in the ‘hat’ !!! Lilian

  22. Lilian – thanks for your comment – look out for me at the Creative stitches show at SECC in March. Best regards, Dionne

  23. Inspired as always – but I must stop just looking and drooling and get down to trying lovely things ! Love the new tips and techniques slot this- may be the year I find my own creative inner self !

  24. fantastic work….shame I am so far away…would love to see it up close and personal….

  25. The work looks so beautiful! I just wish I didn’t live so far away, I’d love to come and see more!

  26. Hi Dionne
Been a big fan for ages and originally from Hudds now living and creating textiles in Somerset.
Would you consider a workshop down here with students sometime? 6th formers mainly, lively, keen bunch.
Would love to come and do a few days with you next time I’m in Yorkshire.
    Keep up the fab work.
    Regards
    Sue x

  27. Love your work and inspiration!! cheers Rebecca

  28. Sue
Thanks for getting in touch. Yes 6th form students are a great bunch to
work with. You’re welcome to give me a ring to talk through the options:

Look forward to hearing from you.
    regards, Dionne

  29. Hi Dionne,
Saw your work at the Ropewalk, Barton last year and really enjoyed the show. This looks like a really interesting progression.
    Regards, Sue

  30. Hi Dionne,
I have just ordered the dyeing kit and look forward to updating my dyeing skills which up till now have been with Dylon cold water dyes!
The new work looks stunning. The simplicity of your “language” appeals greatly. Very meditative. I visited Ruthin last summer for a course with Lucy Casson and was impressed with the whole place, particularly the exhibition space. I think your work will look beautiful there.
Please include me in the draw!
All the best for those resolutions in 2011!
    Maggie

  31. Hi Dionne
Your newsletters are always of interest- like the new tips idea. Your work is so different from most in its abstract painterly qualities and restricted palette. Ruthin have excellent exhibitions but it is a long way away – London is not as good for exhibitions as people think – particularly textiles. Hope to see you again at the Knitting and Stitching Show again one year. best wishes, Diana

  32. Diana – thank you for your kind words, it can be hard to stay so restricted yet I feel it pays dividends in the long run. I’ll keep up with the ‘tips & techiniques’ – Happy reading!

Maggie – Thank you for your workshop booking, I look forward to working with you shortly.

Sue – the work has progressed ‘gently’ from the Ropewalk exhibition – you’re in the ‘Hat’!

Thanks All for stopping by! Dionne

  33. Hi Dionne,
A really interesting new letter. I always look forward to receiving it. I loved the work a Ruthin.
Please include me in the draw.

  34. Thank you very much to everyone for the wonderful comments and interest in my work.
    Diane Costello,
    Rita Jhaveri,
    Helen Round
and Diana Hale are the lucky winners of the Elemental brochures.
    Dionne x

  35. Hi, Dionne, I have only just found your website !!!! Your inspirational work has really struck a chord with me, collographs, felt, observational drawing and the combination of processes, it’s amazing.
